Influence > Authority
Influence > Authority
Titles don’t inspire loyalty.
People do.
I’ve met plenty of “managers” with authority but no influence. Their teams comply, but they don’t commit. They do the minimum required but don’t give their best.
And then there are leaders who don’t have the biggest titles but command deep influence. Why? Because they show up consistently. They listen. They build trust. They elevate the people around them.
Influence outlasts authority because authority depends on your position. Influence depends on your character.
The leaders people remember years later aren’t the ones with the corner office. They’re the ones who made them feel seen, supported, and capable of more than they imagined.
Who’s someone who influenced your life without ever needing to “pull rank”?
